Marit worked at Steven’s Hospital (Swedish Edmonds) and retired at the age of 87 following 35 years of dedicated service. She loved her job and was known for consistently going above and beyond to help others. Her wonderful co-workers became cherished long-time friends with whom she celebrated good times long after retiring.
Marit was born in Oslo, Norway and emigrated to America as a young woman. She always loved Norway but proudly became a U.S. citizen. A dedicated mother, she learned English while reading bedtime stories to her young son. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Torleif and her siblings, Ragnild, Gudrun, Solveig, Ruth, Thor, Alf, and Ragnvold.
Every Christmas she enjoyed baking homemade spritz and krumkake. A favorite Christmas Eve tradition was trying to find the hidden almond in her delicious rice pudding.
She enjoyed her annual trips to Reno with family and friends. Marit knew she would win when her hand itched and was luckier than most at the penny slots.
She is survived by her only son Tom, her daughter in-law Debbie, her granddaughter Calissa, and her many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Purdy Walters Cemetery at Floral Hills on Thursday, June 23 at 2:30. The service will be followed at 3:00 by a reception for friends and family at the Life Celebration Center. www.FloralHillsLynnwood.com
