I've been Kens window washer for 15 years. He was also my friend since the first time I met him. Ken was  genuine, honest,and a man I could look up to.You will be sorely missed but never forgotten.My heart goes out to Gail and the rest of the family



My longest memory that I have of my cousin Ken was when our family took us to  Gloucester, Massachusetts the North Shore where the Monroe side of the family lived. We had so much fun in the water and climbing the rocks and playing.  I was 5 and he was 3, in fact I have a picture that I had given him of us a few years ago on the rocks at Gloucester Bay were we spent many happy days.  

But the most memorable memory of our youth together was the in 1942 I was 8 years old and going to Catholic private school and had just taken my Holy Communion with the church.  My mother had just gotten out of the T.B. Sanatorium and we went to visit Aunt Kay at 109 Vernon Street in Newton, must have been a Saturday as Uncle Vin was not there as he worked for S.S. Piece Co. in Boston & worked on Saturday.

My Mom and Aunt Kay loved Opera and on Saturday there was always on the radio Milton Cross, broadcasting Opera from the Opera House in New York City, a must to hear.  So Ken/Liz and I had to entertain our selves. As it was 1942, I was 8, Ken was 6 & Liz was 4. So we decided to play hide and seek, it was my turn to search and Liz hid always under the China closet in the dining room and Ken hid on the second stair way to the second floor from the kitchen. They were easy for me to find, well we kept taking turns till I said to Ken, “Its too bad that  you are not going to Heaven” well he said “Why am I not going to Heaven'? Well, you are not baptized in the Catholic Church and all people who are not baptized there have to go to Purgatory and stay there till they can get into Heaven.  “Well he said I don't want to go to Purgatory” So I said the only way you can get to Heaven right away is if you are baptized and I can do that for you.  He said OK.

So that afternoon I got the water and a pot and I said, Adomas Abisco Partay Sondous and made the sign of the cross over the water so the water was now holy water.  Then as I poured the water over his and then Elizabeth's head I said I baptize you in the name of the father, son and Holy Ghost, amen. Then I said you are now both Catholics and you can now go directly to Heaven.  He was happy..

Of course when he told his dad that night that he now was a Catholic.. all hell broke loose.. As Uncle Vin was a Presbyterian.   Guess he called my dad and I got a spanking and never again baptized another person.

But we all know that with all the good works and caring that he gave his family and friends that Ken went directly to heaven, in his case the Baptismal would never been necessary.

I got to know Ken mainly through tennis at Mill Creek and the Saturday Men's Morning breakfasts afterward.  Over the years, I was impressed by his love of family and his decisiveness.  He must have been a great manager at work.  Also being a political conservative, I always enjoyed hearing his opinions about different issues and his reasoning.  I admired him very much and he always made me feel like a friend whenever I saw him.  The thoughts expressed at his Celebration of Life confirmed my impressions of him.  I was very fortunate to have known him.  I will miss him and I will keep trying to treat my family as Ken would have treated his.  He was a great person.
