Karen Lee Wren passed away in Mill Creek, Washington on November 5, 2016 at the age of 75. Karen was happily married to her husband Jack for 57 years. Karen is lovingly remembered by her daughter Angela Wren (Karrie) and grandchildren Amy Wren and Emily Wren, son Bryan Wren (Dede) grandchild Ashley Wren, sister Linda May (Steve), and brother Don Sprague (Phyllis).
Karen was born in Seattle, Washington on April 28th, 1941 to parents Avery Sprague and mother Phyllis Sprague (Stedman). She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959 and went on to marry her high school sweetheart on September 4th of that same year. Following, their marriage Jack entered the Air Force, they were stationed in Texas and Hawaii. After the service, Karen and Jack settled back to Seattle. She was a loving and dedicated mother. She was the first to admit she wasn’t an athlete, but you’d find her many weekends shagging fly balls in the outfield for her kids while they practiced batting.
Karen worked as a banker for Seafirst Bank and Shoreline Savings. Jack and Karen were active members of Volksmarch International walking club, and in later years her love of numbers was satisfied by playing a fun game of Texas Hold’em or slots on the computer. She was able to max out the game with such high scores that it would reset for her to start it all over again. Jack and Karen enjoyed spending time together and enjoyed visiting the local casinos in retirement. She was an avid Huskies fan and always cheered on her defense. Karen was extremely sharp and quick witted. Her daughter’s family remembers the many fun games of trivia they’ve enjoyed over the years. When teams were formed you always wanted her on your side since you were sure to win. Karen’s kind and loving ways will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 18 at 11 am at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills - Dignity Memorial, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, Washington.
