Karen Adele Peterson McKinley (Lorentzen) was born in Seattle May 4, 1936 to Ted and Ruth Peterson. She spent her childhood in Ballard, WA and graduated from Ballard Highschool in 1954. Her graduating class voted her "Most Beautiful Smile" During her time at Ballard Highschool she met her high school sweetheart, Bill McKinley, Jr. They married in 1956 and had 4 children, Janice, Jody, Melanie and Bill. In 1963 they moved to Shoreline where they lived for many years and raised their 4 children.
Karen was active in Milk Fund for many years as well as Women's Aglow, Calvin Presbyterian and Westgate Chapel. She was very active in her children's lives and later years with her grandchildren.
Karen loved to garden, especially her English Flower garden at the Innis Arden house. The family cabin on Whidbey Island was her favorite weekend and vacation spot to spend time with and make wonderful memories with her husband, kids and grandkids. Her ultimate vacation spot was Hawaii, especially Maui. She made several trips to that "magical" place to enjoy the tropical breezes and relaxing life.
Karen was a born again Christian and loved the Lord Jesus. She loved telling people about her love for Jesus and what He meant to her life. It is because of her faith in Jesus that she knew she was going to heaven.
Karen was preceded in death by her Mother Ruth Frank Peterson, Father, Ted G Peterson Sr, brother, Ted G Peterson Jr, husband William R McKinley Jr, and Grandson Oliver Wolfe.
She is survived by her four children, Janice Shatto (Rollin), Jody McKinley, Melanie McKinley and Bill McKinley, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
The family is asking that any donations in Karen's name be sent to The Alzheimer's Association.
