Helen L. Johnson of Edmonds, WA passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2024. She was born November 2, 1934 in Cleveland, TN to Joseph and Flossie Morrow. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Budd Johnson, her daughter Denise Kronewitter (Dennis), grandchildren Daniel Beavers (Sarah), Rebecca Beavers (Jacob), and great grandchildren Raine, Josiah and Reuben.
Helen moved to the Seattle area with her family when she was 9 years old. She had a warm and inviting personality that helped her make some amazing childhood friends in school and at church. Many of these friendships lasted well into her adult life.
She met Budd Johnson in June of 1963 and they hit it off; marrying that same year on August 31st. They were a true match made in heaven and celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this year.
She worked as a bookkeeper for most of her career. After working for a few local companies in the Seattle area she set up her own bookkeeping/office business and made a successful business out of it.
Much to her family and friends delight she was a wonderful cook. This was also a great delight for her husband’s co-worker’s when they would have a company safety meeting! They made sure to hold the door open for Budd on those days!
The only thing Helen enjoyed as much as her grandchildren and great grandchildren might be going on cruises. She so enjoyed experiencing new places, and meeting new people during these excursions. The food was magnificent and she appreciated having their room cleaned and the bed made daily by someone else too. And those cute hand towel animals the room attendant left delighted her!
In later years she developed Age Related Macular Degeneration both dry and wet. This was before the shot was available to treat wet AMD. The treatment to stop the hemorrhage was severe and left her with no center sight in her left eye. This was a terribly discouraging time but she persevered and continued giving each day her best and letting God do the rest. Her faith and determination had no limits.
In lieu of flowers she would appreciate donations made on her behalf to Washington Talking Books and Braille Library at WTBBL.org. The work they do is so very important to so many people including children. Helping the children was especially important to Helen.
Knowing that she is resting in our Heavenly Father’s arms gives her family and friends great comfort. Bye for now.
