Gretchen Bach Austin

She was born on 08/14/1936, San Francisco- California to Alfred Charles Bach Jr. and Katherine Belcher Bach. Raised in San Rafael, California with her brother Peter Bach. She passed away peacefully on 2/3/2023 with her sons at her side.

Attended University of Oregon, graduated with a Teaching Degree and retired from teaching after 36 years.

She was married to William Locke Whitney Austin for 61 years and he preceded her in death. They are survived by John Whitney Austin (Debra), Stephen Fuller Austin (Dana), and Carter Bach Austin (Heidi). 6 grandchildren, Carter James (Alexandra), Brett (Brittany), Mark (Bre), Laura (Rich), Kawika, and Skye. 7 great grandchildren, Colin James, Lauren Marie, Audrey Rae, Hanna Rion, Logan Whitney, Leilah June, and Wallace Locke.

Her greatest joys in life were her husband, her 3 sons and family. She loved to hula dance, travel and attend parties. She will be missed by many with her warm smile and sweet disposition.

A memorial service for Gretchen will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036.
