Gregory Robert Simmons

Born in Redmond Washington on September 18, 1980 to Robert and Deanna Simmons. He lived in Lynnwood until his second birthday when his parents moved to Auburn, Washington.

Greg attended Gildo Rey Elementary, Pioneer Elementary, Olympic Middle School, and Auburn Riverside High School where he graduated in 1999. During Greg’s elementary years he played soccer. His favorite sports were football, baseball, soccer, and hockey.

Greg was a diehard Seahawks fan! He went to the games with his dad and cheered relentlessly from the sidelines. They were 12s and would tailgate all morning before the game. A determined hard worker and zealous fisherman. He loved fishing and bringing home fresh Salmon to his parents. He loved helping his mom pass out Halloween candy and decorate for the holidays by putting up Christmas lights. Greg loved his parents greatly which showed in how protective he was of them.

In 1999 after graduating from High School Greg got cancer, with the treatment of Chemotherapy he was a survivor and cancer free for 19 years.

Greg is survived by his parents, Robert and Deanna Simmons; sister, Izzy Nielson (Scot); niece, Azrayella Montgomery; nephews, Elias Hart and Oliver Nielsen; uncle Mike Gudgeon (Kristee); aunts Barbara Miller and Connie Barnes; cousins, Brock and Chelsea Gudgeon, Jayme and Jacklyn Barnes; Great-aunts, Nancy Jordan from Missoula, Montana and Patricia Waller from Lubbock, Texas and a large extended family and many friends.

Greg is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Carol Gudgeon; paternal grandparents Charles and Catherine Wurzberger; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for Sunday, November 14th, at 1:00PM at the Enumclaw Seventh Day Adventist, 3333 Griffin Ave, Enumclaw, WA 98022. A public viewing will begin promptly at noon. All are welcome to attend the reception immediately following the service in the banquet hall.
