Sybil MCNEELY, Age 89, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday August 15th, 2010, after a long illness. Sybil was born March 17, 1921 to Andrew Edgar and Hester Myria Goff. She grew up in Dunbar, West Virginia, where she met and married her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 68 years, Richard Lee McNeely. Sybil and Richard are Shoreline residents of 53 years. Devoted mother of five daughters, Sybil’s greatest treasure was her family. She took great pride and enjoyed her eighteen grand / great-grandchildren, all currently living in the State of Washington.
Her hobbies included a love of photography, frequently sharing her plethora of pictures with friends and family. One of her greatest gifts was her overwhelming generosity, as she relished the thrill of surprising a friend or loved one with just that ‘special’ wrapped gift. She particularly embraced birthdays, holidays, and other celebrations and special occasions; often with colorful decorations and ‘spicing’ up the event to merriment of her family and friends. She had a flair for color, and enjoyed beautiful flower gardens, and all types of art, being a creative person herself. Collections were another favorite passion of hers, expressing her love of beautiful things, and nature, such as seashells and butterflies. Crocheting was another endeavor which gave her many hours of pleasure over the years. An avid bowler, she participated in several local leagues until her 70’s; most notably at Le Lani Lanes (Ballard), Robinhood Lanes (Edmonds), Brunswick (Lynnwood), as well as a Travel league. We have many happy memories to cherish, and will especially remember the laughter, her delightful sense of humor, her lovely smile, and her generous, giving nature.
Sybil is survived by her husband, Richard L. McNeely, 87 years, Shoreline, WA, Retired US Govt. NOAA;
