Edward (Ed) Chmielewski passed away July 2, 2012 at his home of natural causes.
Ed was born in Tappen, ND November, 14, 1914 to Anthony and Frances Chmielewski. All eight years of his education were done at a one room school house just outside of Tappen and about two miles from the farm he grew up on.
In 1942 he entered the United States army and reached the rank of Technical Sergeant with the Tank Destroyers. During his service he participated in five campaigns including, Normandy, Northern France, Rheinland, Ardennes and Central Europe.
After WWII, Ed ended up in Bremerton, WA where he met and married Edna Boyd. They lived in California and Alaska before finally settling in Seattle, WA where he worked as a carpenter until he retired.
Ed loved to garden and also spent many hours in his garage working with wood and refinishing furniture. He and Edna were always anxious to help friends and family.
There will be a memorial at his home at 7310 261st Street NW, Stanwood, WA on July 29th between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. He will be buried at Floral Hills Cemetery at 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA.
Ed is survived by his daughter Karen, son Gary, a sister Irene and two brothers Joe and Louie, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers Ed asked that remembrances be given to the Stanwood Senior Center in Stanwood, WA.
