Dodie’s family moved to Everett, Washington in 1944, and she remained in the area the rest of her life. She graduated from Everett High School in 1954 and worked at the Roxy Theater in downtown Everett.
Dodie was married to her husband Ronald Griffin, whom she loved dearly, for 54 years. She had a strong loyalty to her family and was known for her love of gardening and cooking, hosting decades of family dinners - spending long hours in the kitchen making delicious meals, sweet breads, and traditional Norwegian favorites. Dodie and Ron enjoyed camping with their daughters and extended family, creating memories of happy times around the campfire for multiple generations. Dodie had a tender heart for all animals and supported her daughters with their 4-H horse projects. She especially loved working with her sister on the Skyline Riders 4-H club horse shows, helping run the concession stand and making her famous homemade chili that people looked forward to every year.
Dodie was preceded in death by her husband Ron, her sister Marcia Kasch, and brother-in-law Melvin Kasch. She is survived by daughters, Tamara DeMers (David) of Lynnwood and Ronnette Whitney (Jeff) of Bothell, as well as her special grandchildren who were always there for their grandma: Matthew (Breanna) DeMers, Nicole (Chad) Blankenship, Steven (Alisha) DeMers, and great grandchildren Dakotah, Madison, and Danielle DeMers. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Bernie Hoff Jr. (Margaret) and Bruce (Beverly) Hoff, along with several beloved nieces and nephews.
Dodie will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood at 10 am, Friday, September 16th.
