Buenaventura “Ben” Dungo Naguit was promoted to heaven on December 2, 2024. Born on July 14, 1940 in Apalit, Pampanga, Philippines, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through his true love and wife of 57 years Rhoda, his one and only son Jonathan, eldest daughter Ginny, son-in law RJ, grandchildren Amalia, Sarah, and Heidi, his youngest daughter Phoebe, and last living sibling Gloria as well as an extended family and church family.
His life was a testament to his faith, anchored in his unwavering trust in the truth shared in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” This verse guided him as he served in ministry, and unconditionally loved all those around him.
Ben dedicated 18 years to his work with Far East Broadcasting Network (FEBC). His compassion extended to tangible actions through relief work, offering aid and hope to those deeply affected by the floods in Central Luzon and Bicol region. During his time at FEBC, he became the first Filipino to ever attend a Haggai Institute leadership training in Singapore, sponsored by the organization. In 2019, he was featured in a stage interview during the stateside 50th anniversary celebration of Haggai Institute in Atlanta, GA.
He and his family immigrated to America on April 21, 1986. After getting settled, the family began attending Filipino-American Christian Fellowship (FACF). Eventually, he became Board Chairman and played an instrumental role in securing land and constructing a new church building, creating a space of worship, fellowship, and community that will forever be part of his legacy. Though living in America, he never forgot those in the Philippines. He helped 8 workers from Christian Literature Crusade in Valenzuela Metro Manila achieve a dream often out of reach - owning a home.
Though many times busy with ministry, he did find time to enjoy one of his favorite pastimes - boating. When he still had his boat, he loved spending time on the water. Whether fishing or crabbing, he found joy and peace in God's creation and loved to spend hours with family and friends. He also loved to play Scrabble with his wife, even though he lost often, he would jokingly tell her it was because he was so generous.
Ben’s main prayer remained consistent throughout his life - that those he loved would come to know Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord. While he may not have seen all of his prayers answered during his time on earth, his deep faith assured him they would be answered even after his passing.
He lived a purposeful life and the way he loved people left an indelible mark. Ben’s life reminds us of the power of faith, prayer, service, and devotion to God's calling. He is and will continue to be missed, and he will not be forgotten.
