Arthur E. Lee passed away May 26, 2013 in Kirkland, WA following a short illness. He was born on November 26, 1916 in Juneau, Alaska to Norwegian immigrants, Ole and Andrea Lee. They moved to Everett, WA where Art’s brothers Stan and Bob were born. He graduated from Everett High School.
Art served in the 8th Army Air Corp where he worked his way up to becoming a navigator on bombing missions out of England during WWII. One of the great sorrows of his life was the death of his brother, Bob, in a plane crash during the war.
He was introduced to a nurse through mutual friends, and he and Virginia were married 57 years. Following retirement from Boeing, they enjoyed traveling the world from China to Egypt to Australia. He also enjoyed playing golf, gardening, stamp collecting, needlework and playing the violin.
Art and Virginia moved to Brighton Court in 2001, where they had a busy schedule of activities, from beanbag baseball to Wii bowling, and they knew all the residents and staff. One of the highlights of his life was throwing out the first pitch (a strike) at the Mariners game at the age of 88. He saw his entire family two weeks before his death at the wedding of his son, Mark, when he was feeling well.
He leaves his loving family; his wife Virginia, son Tom (Ruth) their children Erin, Kristen and Kerry, daughter Susan (Dean), their children John and Ryan, son Mark, his children Hanna and Kemper and his wife Dori, his brother Stan (Betty) their children Linda, Bob and Nancy, as well as other relatives and numerous friends. He will always be remembered for his beautiful smile.
