LYNN - Mr. William “Bill” Earl Reid, Sr., 85, a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away after a brief illness on July 22, 2015 at Salem Hospital. Born in DeKalb, NY, the son of the late Harry and Ella (Steinburgh) Reid, he was educated in Canada. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, earning 4 bronze service stars and worked for the U.S. Post Office for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion, William P. Connery Post #6 in Lynn and the VFW Post #2346 in Saugus. He was the beloved husband of the late Carro M. (Esterman) Reid; the father of William Reid, Jr. of Boston and Ralph L. Reid of Baldwinville, and the late Nancy Reid; the grandfather of James A. Reid of Florida; the brother of Mary Dimmel and her husband, the late Robert, the late Phyllis Gerth and her husband, Howard, and the late Robert and Velma Reid all of London, Ontario; and the uncle of Allan Dimmel and his wife, Darcy, Heather Currah, Centalyn Bestard, all of London, Ontario and Brenda Gerth of Victoria, B.C. Bill’s funeral will be held at the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Saturday, July 25th, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
