Thomas J. Hosker of Reston, VA entered into eternal life on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. A native of the Boston area, Tom was born and raised in Lynn, graduated from the University of Massachusetts, and went on to earn his Master’s Degree from Boston College. After graduation, he moved to Northern Virginia to begin his career working for the government. Tom served for 40 years as an Intelligence Analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency, receiving multiple distinguished service awards. His career involved work in the full spectrum of analytic products and programmatic areas, demonstrating leadership of complex analytic and organizational projects, and coordination with many colleagues and partners across the Intelligence Community.
Tom was a loving husband to his wife, Claire, and a devoted father to his daughter, Meagan. Tom was immensely proud of Meagan’s achievements, whether it be academic, athletic, earning her pilot’s license, or her generous heart in volunteering as a riding instructor for a therapeutic riding program. Tom is also survived by his brother, Raymond Hosker (Marilyn), nephew, Richard Hosker (Robin Choate), niece, Elizabeth Kitts (Charles), and grandnephew, Matthew Kitts.
Tom pursued many interests from being an avid World War II history buff to an aircraft of the world aficionado. He loved building model airplanes and everything Star Trek-related.Traveling to Disney with his family was a favorite experience. Tom loved keeping up with the world of politics and global events, especially given his background in his chosen field. In retirement, Tom was active in the Central Intelligence Retirees’ Association (CIRA) as a board member and was also a member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 5-8pm at the Adams-Green Funeral Home located at 721 Elden Street, Herndon, VA 20170. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 750 Peachtree Street, Herndon, VA 20170 on Thursday, October 10th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Tom’s name to SPIRIT Open Equestrian Program via their website (spiritequestrian.org). After the Funeral Mass, the family will be taking Tom back home to the Boston area for interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn with coordination of the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home.
A Visitation for Thomas will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Cuffe- McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. A graveside will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery, 145 Boston St, Lynn, please meet at the Funeral Home to drive in procession.
