

Mr. Richard J. “Murph” Murphy, USMC, age 83, of Lynn, died Friday afternoon in Salem Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved and devoted husband to the late Eleanor E. “Betty” (Enquist) Murphy.
Born in Lynn, Richard was the son of the late Malachy and Margaret (McCauley ) Murphy. He was a lifelong resident of the Pine Hill Section of Lynn.
He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during World War II.
Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked as an Inspector for the GE Riverworks in the Marine Turbine Division.
Richard was a proud and loving Husband, Father and Papa. He lived for his family and devoted every part of his being to their happiness and wellbeing.
He leaves his children, Maureen A. Foster of Lynn, Kathy Malm and her husband Rick of Danvers, Kevin J. Murphy of North Reading and Colleen A. Murphy of Lynn. He was the father in law of Jim Collins of Stamford, CT. Loving Papa to Kristopher Malm, Kyle Malm, Rachael Malm, David M. Fiore and his wife Lisa, Melissa Lincoln and her husband Eric, Megan Foster, Madison D’Amora and Max D’Amora. He was the Great Papa to Erica and Emma Lincoln. He was the father of the late Charlene Collins and brother of the late John Murphy.
Richard’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Saint Joseph’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours Monday 4-7PM. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
