He was the beloved longtime partner of Sonia Salcedo, and was the former husband of Noreen Leblanc.
He was the devoted father of Patrick Shawn Smith of Salem, Brian Patrick Smith and his wife Lucy Smith of Manning, SC, and Kerri Dragonetti and her husband Ryan Dragonetti of Brockton, the cherished grandfather of Paighton Gildner, Kyle Gildner, Andrew Dragonetti, William Dragonetti and James Dragonetti all of Brockton, John Wilder Smith of Manning, SC, and Paris Shanel Smith of Salem, the loving brother of Charlotte Legere of Lynn, Claude Hiltz of NH and Sharon Nicholls of NH. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Smith, and was the dear son of the late William V. Smith and Marjorie (Jackson) Smith both of Lynn. He was also the uncle of Caren Driskell of TX, Donald Legere of MA, Patrick Nicholls of MD, Jason Hiltz of MA and Charlie Hiltz of NH, and the great-uncle of Justin and Mckenna Nicholls of MD and Liam Roger Legere of MA.
Patrick was a lifelong resident of Lynn, and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. After retiring from General Electric, Patrick became a School Crossing Guard for the City of Lynn before fully retiring in June of 2023.
He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, and was previously a union member of IUE-CWA Local 201.In the late 70’s and early 80’s he was the President of the Marion Garden’s Tenant Association.
Patrick had an endless love for his 3 children, grandchildren, his partner, his family and friends and for the City of Lynn. He enjoyed watching Boston Sports teams, and cheering on Lynn’s local high school sports teams, visiting new restaurants, watching live horse racing, and visiting local casinos. He was very active in City Politics and had a profound love for the City of Lynn. He always put others first before himself. His immense love for his family, friends and City of Lynn was second to none and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2024 in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St, Lynn from 9AM-11AM, followed by a prayer service beginning at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness - www.Nami.org
