

Mr. Oscar A. “Little Buck” Gayton, age 73, of Lynn, died peacefully in his home Saturday afternoon following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Innis) Gayton, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.
Born in Calais, Maine, Oscar was the son of the late Francis D. and Pauline H. (Thompkins) Gayton. He attended Maine Public Schools and resided there before moving to Lynn in 1956.
Oscar was the lead singer for the “Sounds of Country Band.” He also worked as an assembler for the EG & G Company in Salem. He was a member of the Quascacunquin Lodge of Newburyport, the Kearsarge Lodge of Swampscott, Bass River Lodge of Beverly, the Wayfarers Lodge of Marblehead, the Knights Templar and Golden Fleece.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Mark Gayton of Lynn, Gary Underwood and his wife Patrice of Danvers and Brenda Underwood and her companion Steve Relay of Lynn. He was the brother of Francis E. Gayton and his wife Barbara of Middleton, Jane Ann MacMullen of Pensacola, FL, and the late Myrtle Mae Craig. Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from Maine.
Memorial Visitation in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Saturday from 3-6PM followed by a Memorial Service and Masonic and Odd Fellows Services at 6:00PM. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Oscar’s memory may be sent to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
