Mr. Matthew R. Cleary, age 75, of Lynn, died on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers. He was the husband of the late Joanne M. (McMahon) DiOrio.
Born in Lynn, Matt was the son of the late William H. and Marion V. (Pramo) Cleary. He graduated from Lynn English High School, served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years and then served in the Marine Corps Reserves. For many years Matt worked as a carpenter. Later, he worked at McLellan’s Store and for the Salvation Army.
He was the father of William H. Calkins and his wife Mildred Pearson, the step-father of Leonard C. Calkins and Robin Parks all of Lynn, and leaves 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He also leaves brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Matt’s Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11AM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Burial in the Veteran’s Lot, Pine Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10AM to 11AM, prior to the service.
