Mary Lou Irwin

Mary Lou was born in Lynn, daughter of the late George F. and Margaret M. “Peggy” (McGee) Irwin. She was a resident of Lynn for most of her life until moving to Florida in 2004. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School Class of 1974 and Marion Court College.

Mary Lou had a special love for her cats and music. She enjoyed going to concerts even as her health was declining.

She worked for the MBTA for many years until retiring.

Mary Lou is survived by her brother John F. Irwin of Chicago, a nephew, Kendall Irwin of Crete, IL, and her long time companion Gary Wells. Also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mary Lou’s Memorial Mass will be Monday August 8 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave, Marblehead. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in St. Josephs Cemetery, Lynn. Gifts in her memory may be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave Salem, MA 01970. The family wishes to invite everyone back to the Old Tyme Italian Restaurant 612 Boston Street., Lynn from 2-6 p.m. to continue the celebration of Mary Lou's life.
