Lorraine A. Lorenzen, age 91 of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Harriett and Ralph Kaplan Estates in Peabody, with her family at her side. She was born on February 6, 1927 in Lynn, the daughter of the late, G. Raymond and Evelyn A. (Williams) Hanson. Lorraine was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. She worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Revenue for 23 years, retiring in 1991. Lorraine was a very spiritual woman who attended the Maple Street Methodist Church and Grace United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed going to church service with her daughter, Georgia. She was an active woman who was a member of the Retired State, County and Municipal Employees Association, the Pine Hill Civic Association and the Pine Hill Woman’s Club. She enjoyed going on senior citizen trips with her close friends. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and crocheting. In her later years, she enjoyed various types of word puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Lorraine was pre-deceased by her husband, George R. “Sparky” Lorenzen in 1978. She is survived by her daughters: Gail A. Sotrines and husband, David of Inverness, FL and Georgia A. Iudiciani and husband, Nicola of Lynn. She leaves a sister, Beverly A. Ralph of Casco, ME, and her grandchildren: Tracy Loftin and husband, Chuck, Nicolas Iudiciani and wife, Ashley, Marc Iudiciani and wife, Lindsay. Five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was also pre-deceased by her grandson, Justin Iudiciani.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Lorenzen’s visitation on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA 01904. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, 374 Broadway, Lynn, MA 01904. Burial will follow the funeral service in Pine Grove Cemetery on Boston Street in Lynn.
