On Friday, January 27, 2023 Lillian M. (Tupper) King of Duxbury, MA entered into eternal peace at Hannah Duston Rehab in Haverhill, MA. She was born in Somerville, MA on March 31, 1923 to Conrad and Laurie (Boutelier) Tupper. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald I. King, her three sisters, Eileen Collum, Ruby McGee, and Dorothy Wilde; and one brother, Charles Tupper. She leaves behind her four children, Kathy Egmont, Diane Dick (Wayne), Robert King (Carol), and Timothy King (Beverly); eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lillian was a registered nurse having graduated from the New England Baptist Nursing School. She served as a Cadet Nurse during WW II at Lovell Hospital/Fort Devens, where she met her husband, Donald. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and Lillian was his nurse. They were married for 72 years. Our family has been blessed to witness and enjoy their steadfast love for each other, their family and the Lord.
Lillian worked and volunteered at Jordan Hospital and several nursing homes on the South Shore. She was a longstanding, faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Duxbury, where she taught Sunday school and VBS. She was a founding member of the Duxbury Thrift Shop raising money for scholarships. She loved the beach, camping, reading, all forms of puzzles and word games, crafts and spending time with her family. Her home was always open to friends and family during good times and bad. Her quiet, loving, giving spirit was evident in everything she did. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Her family would like to thank the Pentucket staff at Hannah Duston Rehab for their care. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society for brain tumor research.
