Kenneth J. Eddy

On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Kenneth J. Eddy passed away. He was the son of the late James and Martha (Osborne) Eddy. Ken was born on June 4, 1945, in Lynn. He attended Lynn English High School and Salem State College. He was SP5 in the Army Security Agency stationed in southern Germany and was proud of his service during the Vietnam era. After the military, Ken returned to Lynn and pursued a career in accounting. Prior to his retirement, he worked for APT Property Management Company in Woburn.

Ken lived life passionately and with joy; he had a natural curiosity. He had friends all over the world and made a point of maintaining all his friendships, including lifelong friendships with his fellow service buddies and wives whom he met while stationed in Germany. He made every single person feel special. A stranger did not remain a stranger for long. Ken wrote short stories, primarily human interest and biographical. Upon meeting a Native American while visiting the West, he wrote about the man’s family, ultimately leading to Ken’s support of the St. Joseph’s Indian School in South Dakota.

Ken painted intricate “flats,” which are two-dimensional miniature engravings that, once painted, give the impression of being three-dimensional. He loved music of all genres and kept in touch with DJs across the country.

He and his wife, Marlene, traveled often. He loved travel and was extremely curious about learning about other cultures. Many of their travels were an extension of his passion for music. While on a Doo-wop cruise, he met his two idols from childhood, the musicians Dion and Brenda Lee. Trips to New Orleans netted him the opportunity to join a traditional wedding parading the streets of the French Quarter.

Ken was a lifelong Celtics fan, an avid reader of history, and fascinated with family genealogy.

Ken coached his son Brian’s little league baseball team. He and Brian attended numerous sporting events. Ken was proud of his only son, and they shared a number of common interests. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Marlene (Vasi) Eddy; his brother Norman and his wife Suzanne of New Hampshire; brother Wayne and his wife Cathy of New Hampshire; brother Stephen of Lynn; his sister Marsha and her husband Richard “Woody” Thames of Florida; his son, Brian, and his wife Emily as well as his pride and joy, his grandsons, Luke and Owen. A large family of cousins, nieces, and nephews also survives him. He was predeceased by his older brother, James.

Ken’s Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. His Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 pm. Burial will be private.
