BEVERLY - Kathleen L. (Chase) Harrington, 73, formerly a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018, at Sunrise at Gardner Park, Peabody, after a long illness. Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late Paul Harrington with whom she shared over 29 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on October 11, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Abina L. (Callahan) Chase. Kathleen was the loving sister of Sally A. (Chase) Cuffe of Peabody and her late husband, Walter A. Cuffe, Jr.; the cherished Aunt “Kath” of Kelley Howells and her husband, David of Marblehead, Katy A. Cuffe-Burgess of Danvers, Kerrin (Cuffe) Morley and her husband, Thomas of Westford and Anthony Cuffe O’Donnell of Salem; beloved great-aunt of Erin Kathleen Burgess and Mary Burgess, Eliza, Daniel and Charlotte Howells and Robert and Brendan Morley; the devoted mother of Francis P. Harrington and his wife, Karen of Peabody, Michael Harrington and his wife, Katherine of Bradford, Dolores Gardner of Milton, FL and her late husband, David, and Tammy Harrington of Beverly; the adored grandmother of Brian Provencher and his wife, Kaitlyn, Paul, Matthew, and Kelly Harrington, Andrew Turner, Shannon Vittozzi and her husband, Paul, Caitlin, Christopher, Kerry, Patrick, Abigail and Jack Harrington, Maryjane Gardner, David Gardner and his wife, Maghen Wright-Gardner, Alexia Gardner and Brianna Arsenault; great-grandmother of Cameron and Elle Provencher, Gianna and Paul Vittozzi, Bishop and Ro’man Freeman, Hunter King, Paul Martin, IV and Christopher “CJ” Harrington, Jr.; the dear sister-in-law of Gloria (Harrington) Pobiedzinski and her husband, Robert and their children, Robert Pobiedzinski and his wife, Paula, and their daughter, Megan, Doreen Godfrey and her husband, Tom and their daughter, Olivia, and Annemarie Marchetere and her husband, David. Kathleen is also survived by several cousins in County Cork, Ireland, the O’Callaghan families of Glenagaul, Kildinan, and Youghal; the much loved special friend of Lucy the beagle; she was predeceased by her always loved and remembered beagles, Skippy one and Skippy two.
Kathleen graduated from Lynn English High School with the Class of 1963 and from Salem State College with the Class of 1967. She was member of St. Pius V Church, Lynn and its Sodality, the Infant of Prague Guild, Lynn, Irish Northern Aid, Lynn Unit, the Ladies Auxiliary of Division 10, Ancient Order of Hibernians in Lynn, Holley-Navarre Lodge of Elks, 2787 and American Legion, 382 in Navarre, FL and the Beverly/Salem Lodge of Elks, 1309. She took on the role of a tireless and loving caregiver to several members of her family and volunteered at the Sacred Heart, Tree of Life Food Pantry in Lynn. She was very proud to hold Irish and United States dual citizenship. Her family always enjoyed receiving the home made cards that she would make to celebrate any occasion. She was an avid fan of all the Boston Sports Teams, especially the Red Sox – win or lose.
Kathleen’s funeral will be held from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple Street, Lynn, MA on Thursday, December 27th at 10:00 a.m. followed at 11:00 a.m. by a Funeral Mass at St. Pius V Church, Lynn. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn.
