Josie, beloved daughter of the late John J. and Kathleen T. (Halloran) Kilroy, was born and raised in Lynn. She graduated from Lynn Classical High School, where she was Captain of the swim team, North Shore Community College and she attended Salem State University. She was active in several community organizations, including a volunteer for the United Way, and the local food pantry. Josie was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church where she sang in the Church Choir for ten years.
Josie was the sister of John “Jack” Kilroy of Salem and Julia (Kilroy) Hoinoski and husband, Walter of Enfield, CT, the late Mary Ann (Kilroy) Griffin and the late Kathleen Kilroy. Also survived by nieces and nephews, Maureen Radoncic, Dr. David Kilroy, Lisa O’Brien, Kathleen Cormier, Laura O’Brien, Susan Kocot, John Griffin, Robert Griffin, many grand nieces and nephews, the Connor Cousins of Boston and the Halloran Cousins of NY and FL and many devoted friends who greatly enriched her life. Josie was the beloved cousin of Vincent and Margaret Brooks and family of Dublin, Ireland and the late Michael “Mick” Brooks. She leaves Jack Hughes, Martha O’Brien and many other friends and relatives in Ireland who she considered her “Irish Family”.
A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, 8 So. Common Street, Lynn on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 12PM. Burial will be private. Visiting Hours will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Friday, July 26, 2013 from 3-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josie’s memory may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave. 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851 or the Marblehead Food Pantry, 80 Highland Ave., Marblehead, MA 01945.
