Born in Lynn on November 13, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph W. Walsh, Sr. and Thelma (Teague) Walsh. Joseph was a graduate of Lynn English High School, and then went on to proudly serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return, Joseph worked in the parking department for the City of Lynn until his retirement. He was also an active member of The Elks Club and the VFW.
In his free time, Joseph loved golfing, bowling, playing shuffleboard, enjoying his many vacations, coffee with the guys in the morning at McDonalds, taking pictures of his family and the ocean, and lastly, showing up to every important event in his family you could think of. He never missed one!
Surviving Joseph is his son, Mark Walsh and his wife Michelle of Lynn; his grandchildren, Keren Hawkes and Kristen Walsh; and his great-grandchildren; Kendall Hawkes and Jacoby Walsh.
Joseph was the husband of the late Nancy (Punchard) Walsh and the beloved father to the late Shawn Walsh.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St, Lynn, on Thursday, December 17th from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. His funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 12PM. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's honor may be made to The Jimmy Fund, for he loved his Red Sox.
