Mr. John F. McGrath, age 77, of Lynn, passed away on Thursday November 20, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Patrick McGrath and Delia (Connolly) McGrath. A lifelong resident of Lynn, he attended Lynn schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School. Prior to his retirement, John worked at Neiman Marcus and Lord & Taylor in Boston. He enjoyed traveling, going to the theater and good times with family and friends.
John leaves two sisters, Madeline Toomey and her husband James Toomey and Ruth Chick of Lynn and two sisters-in-law, Olive McGrath and Anna McGrath of Lynn, brother-in-law Harry Porter of Wichita, Kansas and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Patrick McGrath and William McGrath of Lynn, his sisters Marion Holland, Margaret Allen, Adeline McDonough of Lynn, Barbara Boucher of Saugus, Eileen Doyle of Peabody and Dottie Porter of Wichita, Kansas and his long-time companion Josephine Burke.
John’s Funeral will be held from the CUFFE-McGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Wednesday at 9:00AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Pius V Church at 10:00AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home.
