Joanne Janakas

She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Janakas.

Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Angelakis) Klonis.

She lived in Lynn and in Swampscott.

Joanne was a Library Assistant at the Swampscott Public Library, well-known in the Children’s Room.

She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn and was a member of the Philoptochos Society.

Her favorite activities were dancing, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family.

She was the mother of Patricia Schneider of Swampscott and of the late Christopher Janakas. She also leaves three grandchildren Kurt Schneider of Neptune Beach, FL, Cory Schneider of Swampscott, and Nicole Thaden and her husband Tye of Auburn, three great-grandchildren Tristan Schneider, Olivia Schneider and Joanna Thaden, and several nieces and nephews. She was known to her great grandchildren as GG, and to her nieces and nephews she was known as Aunty Jenny.

She was also the sister of the late Stacia Klonis Drivas.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19th from 9 AM to 10:30 AM in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street Lynn, followed by a funeral Service in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn at 11 AM. Burial in Swampscott Cemetery. Donations in Joanne’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
