Jean F. McLaughlin, age 86 of Lynn, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. McLaughlin, with whom she shared 35 years of marriage.
Born in Quincy to the late Frederick and Margaret (MacDonald) Frazier. She was a graduate of North Quincy High School, Class of 1954. Jean was a devote Catholic and was a faithful member of The Order of St. Francis, a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. John the Evangelist Church. She watched Mass and prayed the rosary daily and often volunteered at the Abbott House for the Elderly.
Jean enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and bingo with her friends. She was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots. She loved her movies, especially The Pink Panther, and listening to country music with her favorite Jim Reeves’ song “Welcome to My World”. She had a hearty laugh, often leading people to laugh even harder, with her. She loved her family, friends, and always made you laugh with her sweet humbling innocence and the comical things she said. Whether coming or going, Jean would always have a prayer for you in her heart.
Jean is survived by her loving children Cheryl McLaughlin, Rick McLaughlin, Michael McLaughlin and his wife Renee, and Sharon Fogarty and her husband Terence; her cherished grandchildren Brendan, Nicole, Daniel and Emily; her adored brothers and sisters Mary, Billy, Joseph, Ella, and Bobby and his wife Phyllis; and she is also survived by her sister-in-law Kathy and her husband Joe, and her many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jean is predeceased by her sisters Doris and her husband Hank, and Irene and her husband Joe, and her brother-in-law Larry and his wife Dottie, and her many friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend Jean’s Visitation on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 174 Humphrey Street, Swampscott. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Lynn.
