Mr. James E. Farnkoff, age 84, of Danvers, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday morning following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Gloria D. (Collins), with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Carney, New Jersey, James was the son of the late George and Kathleen (Hassey) Farnkoff. He was raised in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School. James then entered the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. He was a self employed carpenter for many years until his retirement.
James was a past member of the William Connery Post 6 and the Lynn Lion’s Club. He enjoyed his yard work and various household projects.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, James Farnkoff, Jr of Houston, TX Daniel Farnkoff of Peabody, Dianne Waters of Lynn, Wendy Ames of Newburyport, Michael Farnkoff of South Boston, Debra Rowe of Tiliton Falls, NJ, Lynn Lundgren of Welchs, OR, Joanne McDonald of Peabody, Donna McCormick of Manchester, NH and Mark Farnkoff of Middleton. He also leaves his siblings, Thomas, Paul, Daniel, Robert, Carol, Eleanor and Barbara and is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late George, Richard, and Joan.
James’ Funeral Service will be held in the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Wednesday at 10:00AM. Relatives and friends invited. Interment private. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-7PM. Gifts in James’ memory may be sent to the North Shore Elder Services, 152 Sylvan St. Danvers, MA 01923.
