LYNN – Geraldine “Gerri” Gladys (Cronin) Mitchell, 79, of Peabody, formerly a longtime resident of Lynn, passed away on Saturday, December 07, 2019 at her daughter’s home in Boxford surrounded by her loving family. Gerri was the beautiful and beloved wife of Kenneth Mitchell with whom she shared almost 61 years of marriage. Born in Lynn and raised and educated in Saugus, Gerri was the daughter of the late Emile “Ed” and Gladys (Shore) Despres and the late Eugene Cronin. She was a graduate of Saugus High School with the class of 1957.
Gerri was the loving mother of Sue Pietrantonio and her husband, David of E. Kingston, NH, Karyn Hendrickson and her husband, Ray of Boxford, Ronald Mitchell and his wife, Kelly of Seabrook, NH and Kristen Orlando and her husband, Joseph of E. Kingston, NH; the cherished grandmother of Nicholas and Nathan Pietrantonio, Kevin Hendrickson and his wife, Emma, Scott Mannion and his husband, Brian Mannion, Michael Hendrickson and his partner, Chase Brightwell, Kelsey LaGross and her husband, Jason, Brian Mitchell and his wife, Abigail, Allison Mitchell and Taylor Orlando; the great grandmother of Aiden, Connor, Kathryn, Lincoln, Colton and Finn; the dear sister of Patricia Joyce and her husband Frederick of Wolfeboro, NH and Carolyn Albanese and her husband Robert of Lynn; and the aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Gerri worked as an accounting assistant at Christian Book Distributors in Peabody for over 21 years until her retirement in 2000. Gerri attended Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield and was a past long time member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lynn. She was a longtime member of the National Precious Moments Collectibles Association and very much enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Ken, on the Association’s annual cruises, especially to the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Most of all, she loved spending time with her entire family, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, December 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Christian Church, Lynnfield, officiated by Rev. Timothy Schmidt. Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Christian Church, 47 Grove St., Lynnfield, MA 01940.
