Elizabeth Eileen Peterson

Mrs. Elizabeth E. "Betty" (Joslin) Peterson, age 83, of Beverly, MA, died on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Richard D. Peterson with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.

Betty was born in Beverly, daughter of the late Carl V. and Dorothy Allen Joslin. She was a lifelong resident of Beverly and a 1948 graduate of Beverly High School. She was employed at the Beverly National Bank, where she worked in the Customer Service Department, as well as a loan officer for many years until her retirement.

Betty was a member of Dane Street Congregational Church in Beverly, serving on many committees and as the Church School Treasurer.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her four children, Dr. Gary Peterson of Duxbury, MA, Robert Peterson and his wife Lisa of Newton, NH, Susan Denoncour and her husband Greg of Georgetown, MA, and Dr. Douglas Peterson and his wife Dr. Stacy Peterson of Beverly, MA, and one sister Mae Story of Beverly, MA. Also surviving her are 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who all lovingly referred to her as "Nana". She was "Aunt Betty" to many nieces and nephews and with each she shared a special relationship. She was the sister to the late Carl V. Joslin, Jr. and Lillian Goodhue.

Betty loved music, dancing, baking, gardening, playing poker, York Beach, and especially spending time with her family and friends. Her love and influences are wide-spread.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Betty's Memorial Service at the Church in the Cove, Beverly, MA on Saturday, July 19th, 2014 at 3:00 PM, with reception to follow. Interment will be in the North Beverly Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Betty's memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, MA or the Beverly Regional YMCA.
