WEST PEABODY – Edward Lawrence Collins, of Seabrook, NH, formerly a longtime resident of West Peabody and of Lynn passed away on Saturday, February 29th at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Ed was the beloved husband of Gail (Millner) Collins of Seabrook with whom he shared over 44 years of marriage.
Born in Winthrop, Edward was the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Lane) Collins and was educated in East Boston Schools and worked as a plumber at GE in Lynn for over 28 years until his retirement in 2004. Ed enjoyed his monthly breakfasts in Lynn with his fellow GE retirees and his almost as frequent get-togethers with his Crew from East Boston. He enjoyed traveling to casinos and playing cards with his family and friends. He enjoyed animals and caring for his pets over the years, particularly his Doberman Pincher, Jada. Most of all, though, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, always keeping them laughing.
Edward was the devoted father of sons, Lawrence Collins of Peabody, Steven Collins of Wakefield, Mark Collins of Peabody, and his daughter, Jamie Fleming and her husband, Robert, and his former daughter-in-law, Nicole Collins, all of Peabody; the cherished grandfather of Tristan, Ryan, Lily, Taylor, Meghan, Haley, Mia, Abigail, Madison and Sean; the dear brother of Joseph Collins and his wife, Nancy of Haverhill, Jane Phillips and her husband, Robert of South Carolina, Jean West and husband, David of W. Newbury and the late Ruthann McCarthy; the brother-in-law of Larry Millner and his wife, Theresa of Salem and Diane Verdini and her husband, Gus of Lynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5th, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
