Edmund “Eddie” A. Chaput, age 81, of Peabody, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Bernadette (Weil) Chaput with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Edmond and Louise (Mazzone) Chaput.
He was the devoted father of Brian Chaput and his wife Lynette of Winthrop, James Chaput and his wife Jennifer O’Brien of Peabody, the wonderful uncle of Cheryl and her husband Mike Mellen of Lynn, and the dear brother of Fred Chaput and Dolly Chaput. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Daniel Chaput.
Eddie grew up in East Boston. He raised his family in Lynn, later moving to Peabody. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1962 – 1967. He was a Teamsters Local 25 Truck Driver for New Penn Motor Express for 30 years. After retiring from driving, he later worked at Durkee Mower. Eddie enjoyed fishing, Keno, day trips, and Sunday family dinners. He was a die-hard New England Patriots fan; having been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. He cherished his time spent with family and friends.
A Funeral Mass for Eddie will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 21 Bessom Street, Lynn.
