Born in Lynn, he was a lifelong resident of the city, and was the son of the late Lloyd and Lydia (Covall) Brewer. He was the former husband of the late Doris (Gibbons) Brewer, and the longtime partner of the late Alice Armstrong.
He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII.
Earl was a tool & die maker and worked at the Knight Dyes Company of Brockton. He enjoyed window shopping shoe stores and looking at the results of his die work for shoes. He also enjoyed cooking and worked part-time as a short-order cook.
He loved to walk, loved baseball, loved horses (playing the horses), loved travelling to Canada and all over New England, loved his rides, and was a huge fan of Glenn Miller.
Earl was the father of Paul D. Brewer and his wife Claire of Seabrook, NH, the late Robert C. Brewer, Thomas J. Brewer and his husband Christopher Steeves of Newburyport, Daniel E. Brewer and his wife Gail of Lynn, and Scott C. Brewer and his wife Renee of Salem, and was the brother of George Brewer and his wife Pat of Lynn, and of the late Evelyn McKay, Lloyd Brewer, Thomas Brewer and Roy Brewer. He also leaves 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Staff of the Jesmond Nursing Home for the wonderful care that Earl received for the past five years.
Services will be private with arrangements by the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home 157 Maple Street, Lynn. Family and friends will gather at a later date.
