Dorothy Wurdeman

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Wurdeman, age 89, of Lynn, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 surrounded by her loving family following a brief but courageous struggle at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. She was the beloved wife of the late Edgar “Whitey” Wurdeman with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage.

Born in Wenham, she was the daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Harvey) Quinn. After her graduation from Lynn English High School, Dot went on to study nursing at Memorial Hospital Nursing School in Nashua, NH. Dot honorably served her country in the US Army during WWII as a Registered Nurse. While in the Army, she met her beloved husband, Whitey, in Panama. Following her service to our country, Dot was employed by Union Hospital as a Maternity Nurse for 32 years until her retirement in the 1970’s.

She was very active in the First Lutheran Church choir, Chattering Crafters, Prime Timers and bowling league as well as the Peabody Senior Center and the Lynn Band Boosters. Above all else, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy throughout life.

Dot was the beloved mother of Linda L. Curcuru and her husband John of Beverly, Lisa D. O’Keefe and her husband Jack of Lynn, Lori A. d’Entremont and her husband Darren of Lynn and Loran S. Wurdeman and his wife Cynthia of Rowley. She also leaves her grandchildren, Stephanie Curcuru and husband James Mello, Amy Drinan and her husband Michael, Kirsten and Michelle O’Keefe, Rachel and Nicole Wurdeman and Adam and Brian d’Entremont. Great-grandchildren Tyler, Valerie, Madeline and Jackson. Also survived by her devoted friend and neighbor, Brenda Scanlan who often cared for Dot and her beloved dog, Little Me.

Funeral Services for Dot will be held in the First Lutheran Church, 280 Broadway Street, Lynn on Friday at 10AM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple Street, Lynn on Thursday from 4-8PM.
