Bea was born in Lynn, MA, daughter of the late Anthony and Ann (LeBlanc) Richards. She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Small, Jr.; the loving mother of Robert B. Small and his wife, Donna of Lynn, Janet S. Talbot of Georgetown and the late Richard F. Small; the mother-in-law of Donna Small of Peabody; the cherished grandmother of Brian and Courtney Small, Ryan Small and his wife, Amanda, all of Peabody, and Lindsay Talbot of Georgetown; the great-grandmother of Marley Small; the dear sister of Joan Ferrante of Revere and the late Julie Rowe, Theresa Johnson, George Richards and Louis Richards. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bea served in the US Navy during WWII in the Bureau of Aeronautics in Washington, DC and at the naval Training Station in Chicago, IL. She later worked at Union Hospital in Lynn as a medical staff secretary for over 20 years and then volunteered there as a member of the Hospital’s Auxiliary for over 10 years working with her daughter, Janet. Bea was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield and was a member of its Ladies Sodality there. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the CUFFE-MCGINN FUNERAL HOME, 157 Maple St., Lynn. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, January 17th , at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church , 17 Grove St., Lynnfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
