Barbara A. Talbot, a long-time resident of the City of Lynn, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Lahey Clinic Hospital in Burlington surrounded by family. Born in Malden on June 18, 1938, Barbara was raised and educated in Reading. After high school, Barbara worked as a telephone operator and then at the American Mutual Company in Wakefield. Barbara met and married the love of her life, Ralph Talbot, on June 11, 1966, in Reading. They were together for 49 years until Ralph passed in 2015. Barbara worked as a bank teller at Eastern Bank in Salem, where she enjoyed interacting with her customers and making many friends. She always had a smile on her face and a booming, infectious laugh. She enjoyed all types of crafts, including knitting, crocheting, and recently took up diamond art. Barbara and Ralph were always known as the best dancers in the room. They enjoyed ballroom dancing and were active square dancers for many years with the Salem Lancers. Barbara and Ralph also loved playing cards, especially cribbage, and they played competitively in the Crystal Cribbage Club at St. Michael’s Hall in Lynn. Barbara took over the leadership of the club in 2015.
Barbara loved her family and loved participating in the annual family reunion and bocce game. She was a fixture at family game nights and various card games. She was an avid sports fan, following the Patriots and Red Sox religiously. She would watch almost any sporting event on television and never missed a BC or Penn State football game. Christmas was her favorite day, and she hosted Christmas for many years with her house covered in decorations. Barbara loved all her nieces, nephews, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, who all loved her in return.
Barbara is survived by her sons Scott A. Talbot and his wife, Barbara, of North Andover and Brian K. Talbot and his wife Caroline, of Newmarket, NH. Her sisters are Pauline Nason of Freedom, NH, and Annette Barry of Naples, Florida. Barbara is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held in the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St., Lynn, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 4 PM. Visitation will be held just prior, from 1 to 4 PM. Interment services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake St., Peabody. Kindly gather inside the main gate at 10:15 AM.
