Mrs. Ann T. Phelan, 92 of Swampscott, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 after a brief illness. Born and raised in Lynn and the youngest of ten children, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Ann (Cassidy) Donahue. She was the beloved wife of the late William R. Phelan who passed away in 1990.
Ann attended St. Mary’s School in Lynn and settled in Swampscott after World War II with her husband to raise their four children. Ann and her husband were accomplished dancers and she was a strong supporter of her children’s activities. She also loved to walk long distances, often up to fifteen miles a day. She was at her best when surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ann was also a long time parishioner of Holy Family Church in Lynn and a generous supporter of Catholic missions throughout the world. She loved animals and was a contributor to many animal rights causes.
Ann is survived by her children: Mary Ann Forsyth and her husband, John of Danvers, William Phelan and his wife, Beth of Beverly, Joan Guerriero and her husband, Chris of Lynn, and John Phelan and his wife, Cheryl of Topsfield along with her sister, Elizabeth Rillovick of Lynn. Ann is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Kristina Doherty, Lynda Bowen, Thomas Phelan, Michael Phelan, Danielle Walsh, Lyndsay Cifeli, Lauren Gardner, Joshua Serino, Anthony Serino, James Guerriero, and Kristin Micalizzi as well as 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral from the Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, 157 Maple St. Lynn on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church, 26 Bessom St. Lynn at 11am. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott. Visiting Hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 16th from 4 to 7pm.
