Alice L. Cronin

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alice Louise Cronin, our loving and devoted great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched. Alice, 100 years old, formerly of Lynn, MA and most recently of Wall, NJ, went to be with her Lord on February 28th, 2022.

Alice was born in Waltham, MA, on April 28, 1921, daughter of the late Charles E. and Paulin (Bartlett) Barry. She began school in Waltham and later attended Lynn schools, graduating from Lynn English High School. She married the love of her life, James A Cronin in 1939 and they were married for 63 years until his passing in 2002. She was an exceptional wife and mother who cared deeply for her family and friends.

Alice worked at the General Electric Company River Works and West Lynn in the drafting department for several years until her retirement in 1948. Alice was a longtime volunteer at Union Hospital and enjoyed crafting, needle point and oil painting on lamps.

She was a long-time active member of the West Congregational Church in Peabody, MA and a former member of East Baptist Church in Lynn, MA. She was a very loving and giving person who helped many people over the years.

During her later years, she was a resident of Brooksby Village in Peabody, MA and then Sunnyside Manor in Wall, NJ.

Alice was the beloved mother of her son James B. Cronin, grandmother of Colleen (Greg) Hammond and Patrick (Kirsty) Cronin, all of Wall Township, NJ. She deeply loved her six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Gabriel and Micah Hammond and Colin, Gavin and Kieran Cronin. Her sister-in-law Joyce (William) Barry (Hampstead, NH), survives her.

She was predeceased by all her siblings Laura Hudson, Barbara Larkin, Charles Barry, William Barry, Marilyn LeBlanc and Gloria Huggins. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at West Church, 27 Johnson St, Peabody, MA. On Saturday, March 12, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with services starting at 10:30 am. Pastor Richard T. McDonnell will officiate. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, MA immediately after.
