Wayne Boyd Wright

Wayne Boyd Wright, 74, of Lynchburg passed away Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of 51 years to Donna Harris Wright. Born February 6, 1943, in Lynchburg, he was the oldest son of the late Clayton Leroy Wright and the late Violet Freeman Wright.

Wayne served in the U.S. Army for 3 years, and retired from GE-Ericsson-Tyco with 40 years of service.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by two sons, Robert Wright (Jen) of Felton, DE and Mark Wright (Donna) of Rustburg; five grandchildren, Shana Hubbard (Shaun), Lori Wright (Dustin Maner), Clayton Wright (Emily Covington), Mark Wright and Jeffrey Mitchell (Shelby Shaffer); two great granddaughters, Hailee Hubbard and K.K. Maner; one brother, Bruce E. Wright (Sandra) of Lynchburg; one sister, Kathy W. Moore (Forrest) of Powhatan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Carl Cassell, who was there any time he was needed; two neighbors, Aubrey Moore and Rodney Williams for helping out; and Lisa Thomas for her care and help towards Mr. Wright.

A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. Melvin Harris and Rev. Alton Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park, where Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 16.

The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
