Born in Welch, West Virginia, on February 27, 1958, Walter was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine L. Chapman, and his stepfather, Bobby L. Chapman.
Walter retired from Buffalo Air Handling after dedicating 25 years of skilled and dependable service as a machine operator. Known for his strong work ethic and steady presence, he carried that same dedication into every part of his life. Whether he was out on the golf course with his son Scottie, working with his hands to build something new, tending his vegetable garden, or casting a line into the water for a quiet day of fishing, Walter found joy in life’s simple pleasures.
A lifelong fan of the Virginia Cavaliers, Walter rarely missed a football or basketball game, cheering passionately for his teams. But nothing brought him more pride and love than his granddaughter, Lily, who was the light of his life. His heart was fullest when surrounded by family, especially during moments of laughter and togetherness.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Pansy M. Ketz; his devoted son, Scottie Ketz and wife Allie; his cherished granddaughter, Lily Ketz; and his siblings, William Jeffrey Ketz and Sharon Ann Campbell. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In keeping with the family’s wishes, services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Walter’s memory are asked to consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
