She was born November 24, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan. She and George were married in 1950. They were long-time and active members of Calvary Baptist Church, Roseville Michigan. She was employed by Roseville Community Schools from 1968-1989, working most recently at Carl Brablec High School as secretary to the assistant principal where she was director of the computerized class scheduling system. She and George moved to Lynchburg, Virginia, where they worked part-time in sales for Teacher Created Materials of Huntington Beach, California, representing the company at trade shows throughout the U.S. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, serving in Evangelism Explosion, volunteering at Carrington Nursing Home, and participating in the TR Seniors program. In 2015 she moved to Dayton, Tennessee, to live near her daughter and son-in-law. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be greatly missed.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Paul David Ryder. She is survived by one son George Ryder and wife Cheryll of Wilton, Connecticut; one daughter Corinne Livesay and husband Stephen of Dayton, Tennessee; four siblings Dolores Cracchiolo, Joe LaVenture, Sue Maracle, and Tony LaVenture; eight grandchildren, George and wife Annie, Jeff, Barton, and Paul Ryder, Jane Pinegar and husband Kyle, Brent and Katie Livesay, and Kara Woodworth and husband Gerry; and three great-grandsons Lucas, George, and David.
A service celebrating her life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, Lynchburg, Virginia, with the Rev. David Heerspink officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral Home. Following the service, friends and family will gather in the Liberty Room at the Hilton Garden Inn on Wards Road for a luncheon. At 2:30 p.m., family will meet at the Spring Hill Cemetery on Fort Avenue for her graveside committal service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bryan College, Advancement Department, 721 Bryan Dr., Dayton, TN 37321.
