Born in Lynchburg, on September 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Bryant and Frances Crawford Martin. Thomas was a U.S. Army veteran. One of his passions was playing softball, he was an avid softball player having played in leagues around Lynchburg for many years.
He began his career working for Dr. Pepper before transitioning to Pepsi Cola, where he worked for many years. In a bold move, Thomas later changed careers to pursue a calling in full-time ministry, earning his degree from the Liberty University Bible Institute.
For 23 years, Thomas served as the beloved Pastor of Maple Grove Baptist Church, a role he cherished deeply. His faith, dedication, and love for his congregation were evident in every sermon he preached and in every life he touched. He was proud to have spent his career leading others in faith and service to God.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Campbell Bryant, who was also his best friend, and two sons, Thomas E. Bryant, Jr. (Donna) and Aubrey L. Bryant (Kristy), both of Forest. He also leaves behind four grandchildren—Thomas, Katy, Kayla, and Jenna—and five great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Wanda Pringle (Richard) of Columbia, SC. He also leaves behind beloved cats Smokey and Sweet Pea.
He was preceded in death by his brother, D.L. Bryant, and his sister, Doris B. Dix.
A service celebrating Thomas's life and faith will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. Pastor Robert E. "Bobby" Lee and Pastor Dwight Weaver will officiate. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the funeral home.
