On Saturday, October 5, 2013, The Savior, Jesus Christ, came to meet and welcome one of His servants into his presence on a twisty Appomattox road. Scott was a chapter member of “Riding for the Rock” Christian Motorcycle Association. He was an active follower of Christ within the Blue Ridge Community Church, participated in The “Engage” men’s small group and several other ministries. He was a committed and active parent to his three children, whom he adored and built his life around. He formerly worked for the City of Lynchburg and Startek, and had many friends wherever he went. Scott loved his family and spent all his special moments and holidays surrounded by those he loved and who loved him.
Scott was born on September 2, 1962 in San Antonio, TX. He was the beloved son of D.E. Don Eberhardt and Jean Porter Eberhardt, both of whom preceded him in death. Scott graduated from Heritage High School in 1981, graduated Cum Laude from CVCC in 1983 and attended Virginia Commonwealth University. Scott was also a graduate from Word of Life Bible Institute.
Left to treasure his memory are his three children, Stephan (16), Samuel (14) and Shiloh (9) Eberhardt. Scott is also survived by his brother, D. Whitney Eberhardt and his wife Dawn; his sister Lucy Eberhardt Breeden and her husband Rusty and his brother, Jim Burd and his wife Carol. He has many nieces and nephews that will love and remember him always. He is also survived by his former wife and close friend, Shan Eberhardt.
A service celebrating Scott’s life will be held at Blue Ridge Community Church at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 with the Rev. Steve Foster officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to a college fund established for Scott’s children. Donations may be sent to: Stephan Eberhardt, Central Virginia Federal Credit Union, 20255 Timberlake Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502.
