Samuel E. Stump, Sr., 81, of Lynchburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July, 18, 2024.
Sam was born in Concord on October 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Joe Stump and Dorothy Stump. He was preceded in death by his brother, Louis Stump; and two sisters, Lois Sweatt and Brenda Burns. Sam was retired from J.W. Wood and was a member of Norwood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue Stump; brother, Pete Stump and his wife Diane; sister, Joan Campbell and her husband Doug; his son, Sam Stump, Jr. and his wife Lynn; daughters, Pattie Stump, Lisa Carroll and her husband James, Donna Draper and her wife Misty; grandchildren, Trey and his wife Kaitlyn, Emily and her husband Cyler, Beth and her husband Ethan, Madison and her husband Cole, and Presley; great grandchildren, Bella, Ashlynn, Easton, Ellie and Emerson; adopted son, Jimmy Sweatt; adopted daughter, Becky Young; a special cousin known as the love of his life, Debbie Wooten; a special longtime friend, Thomas Bradley and last but certainly not least, his four legged son and best friend, Coco.
A celebration of his life will be held at Norwood Baptist Church on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
