Ruth “Ms. Wally” Elaine Wash Roach, 88, of Rustburg passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the residence of her daughter Karen with her children by her side. She was the wife of 31 years to the late Wallace Errol Roach, Sr. Born March 13, 1930, in Frankfort, KY, she was the daughter of the late Allen B. Wash, Sr. and the late Emma Smith Wash.
Ruth was the owner and operator of Wally’s Corner Store for more than 32 years. She was an avid and excellent seamstress and upholsterer, and was on the committee of the Spindle Spinners Majorette and Drum Corp.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by three siblings, Frances Gilbert, Allen Wash, Jr. and Glenn Wash; and one granddaughter, Angela Dawn Roach.
Ruth is survived by her children, Wallace Roach, Jr. (Terry) of Lynchburg, Karen McLaughlin (Anthony Wicks) of Forest and Chris Ann Wilson (Roy) of Rustburg; one sister, Donna Freeman of Marietta, GA; former son-in-law, Richard Mc Laughlin of Rustburg; two grandchildren, Timothy McLaughlin of Greenville, VA and Cindy Davis (Bryan) of Lynchburg; one great grandson, Blake Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Bill Evans officiating.
The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m., Friday, July 6, 2018, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
