Ruth Denise Mays

Born May 28, 1950 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter Frank and Mary Elwee Crouch Childress and was also preceded in death by a brother, William “Frankie” Childress and a sister, Belva Childress Powell. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and would also attend Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Denise is survived by a sister, Mary Leanna Childress Creasey of Concord’ a brother, Carlton C. Childress and wife Gayle of Forest; her niece, whom she lived with, Dawn Mason and husband Wayne and their daughter Makayla and other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Fitzgerald and Pastor Walter Yancey officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
