Educated at Evington Elementary School, and graduated from New London Academy in 1945, Ruth went to work for the Lane Company in Altavista for a number of years and later worked for C. L. Lewis & Co. (now Jamerson-Lewis) for 48 years before retiring in 2013. She was also a longtime member of Thomas Road Baptist Church where she served in the nursery for many years.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Robin Moore and her husband, Christopher, of Evington and Cynthia Capps and her husband, Jeffrey of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Tucker Austin Moore, of Evington, and Abigail Brooke Capps and Aiden Bradley Capps all of Lynchburg; her sister, Edna M. Little, of Evington as well as numerous nieces and nephews she loved as her own.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor O’ Connor, Henrietta Gordon, and Hazel Lawson.
A memorial celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Thomas Road Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
