Roy Edward “Bud” Martin Jr., 69, of Forest, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at his residence. He was the devoted husband of Deborah Chilton Martin. Today, April 28, 2019, Bud and Debbie would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Born on January 31, 1950, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Roy E. Martin Sr. and Eva Davis Moore Martin. Bud was a retired Captain with the Lynchburg Fire Department and secondary to his many years of service, was also a lifelong carpenter, who loved to serve and help others with their projects. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and was an active member of Fairview Christian Church.
When it came to cars, Bud was a “hot rod” enthusiast. He also always looked forward to attending beach festivals held in the spring and summer months with Debbie and Trey and attending baseball games with his friends from church.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, Bud is survived by his son, Roy E. “Trey” Martin III of Forest; many cousins, and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Bud’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Fairview Christian Church with Pastor Curtis Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Monday, April 29, 2019, at the church and other times at the residence.
Motorcycles are welcome at all services.
