Born July 6, 1943 in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Elwood Pershing Viar and Sarah Watts Trent. Ronnie was the retired owner & operator of Grogan’s Garage. After retiring in 2014, Ronnie went to work for Calvin Smith’s Garage, until July of 2021. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His love of cars kept him in his profession for 62 years. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.
In addition to his wife, Ronnie is survived by his daughters, Sherrie V. Snead and husband Jay of Clearwater, FL and Tammy V. Lugar and husband Stan of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Brenda Wright and husband Don of Madison Heights and Rhonda Burch and husband Ronnie of Evington; a brother, Gary Viar and wife Rita of Lynchburg and three grandchildren, Courtney Harris and fiancé, Chris Brown, Ryan Harris, and Noah “Henry” Harris. Ronnie is also survived by his four “grand dogs”, Stella, Baileigh, Ace, and Piper.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Pastor Matt Wilkins officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
